You need to floss daily
To brush your teeth only is not enough to remove plaque and food particles that are trapped in between teeth and gums or in the area where the toothbrush cannot reach. Using dental floss for your teeth and gums every day is necessary to help reduce the formation of plaque and bacteria. This are the main causes of tooth decay and gingivitis, especially on hard-to-reach areas. You should use dental floss after brushing regularly or at least once a day to prevent the accumulation of germs. So to maintain good oral health, you should always have good oral hygiene.
How many types of dental floss? There are two types of dental floss.
– Nylon (or multifunctional) floss is commonly used, it is inexpensive and is available in every store, supermarket and pharmacies. Nylon floss can be wax-coated or no wax. They also come in different flavors such as, peppermint, strawberry and many more. This is made from several thin nylon fibers, which can cause tearing of the fibers while using it between too difficult areas of teeth.
– PTFE (monofunction) is a dental floss that costs more, but is more durable, it does not tear easily if teeth are tightly together.
“Floss” is another tool used to clean teeth, it removes food particles where toothbrush cannot or if brushing teeth at the moment is not possible. Many people do not forget to brush and use mouthwash, but many neglect to floss, but this is part of everyday oral care. Food particles left in between teeth if not removed for a while, it will foster the formation of bacteria that causes bad breath and could lead to a more serious problem such as gum disease, gingivitis, tooth decay, and many more.
